CAMBRIDGESHIRE HOMEBUILDER’S DONATION HITS THE RIGHT NOTE AT LOCAL CONCERT

The concert was held by The Wandering Minstrels, a professional singing group who perform a selection of extracts from Gilbert and Sullivan, and took place in the Church of St John the Baptist in the village.

The concert was hosted close to the developer’s Needingworth Park development in Needingworth, and all proceeds were donated towards the Welcome Space Project for the Parish.

The Welcome Space Project is concerned with adapting the church in order to provide a much-needed toilet and a useful community space for future generations. The original plans had to be put on hold during the pandemic but it is hoped that, following this latest fundraising event, the whole project will be able to move quickly to fruition and completion.

Michael G Williamson, Councillor at Holywell-cum-Needingworth Parish Council and Member of the Parochial Church Council, said: “What is particularly heart-warming is that this whole event has been generously sponsored by many businesses and individuals throughout Holywell-cum-Needingworth which means that all the income will go directly to the project.

“At the same time we have created a very enjoyable and professional entertainment within our Parish. We are particularly grateful to David Wilson Homes for their generosity in funding the hire of a top of the range piano to accompany the singers.”
Since the development on Bluntisham Road opened, David Wilson Homes has been actively involved with the local community with a donation of a friendship bench for Anti-Bullying Week to Holywell C of E Primary School, and the sponsorship of Needingworth Fete.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the concert near our Needingworth Park development.

“As a leading developer it is very important for us to engage with the local community as best we can so that it can thrive and continue to be an exciting hub for potential new residents.”
