Cathy Areu Hires Sexual Harassment Attorney To Go After 3 Of Fox News Top Hosts
Cathay Areu, long-time Fox News guest and magazine publisher, is suing 3 top Fox News hosts for sexual harassment. This is not the first time Fox is having to speak with a sexual harassment attorney since it previously had to fire both its chairman and one of its star hosts.
Cathay Areu is a New-Jersey born daughter of immigrants who worked as a news analyst on Fox. For many years she interviewed guests including Laura Bush, Al Franken, and Nancy Pelosi, while also contributing to People Magazine and USA Weekend. She regularly appeared on several Fox News shows such as Tucker Carlson Tonight, The O’Reilly Factor, and the Sean Hannity Show. In the lawsuit, she claims harassment by both Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, as well as ‘Media Buzz’ host Howard Kurtz.
The lawsuit involves an incident in 2018 on the set of The Sean Hannity Show in which Hannity placed a $100 bill on his desk betting his staff to take Areu on a date. During the same year, she alleges, Carlson invited her to a hotel room where he would be alone without his wife. In 2019 Kurtz also invited her to a hotel room for a discussion on the possibility of employing Areu full-time on Fox. She declined that meeting with Kurtz and instead invited him to dinner with her friend, which Kurtz declined.
Areu considered every case a sexual advance by the hosts, and even mentioned Fox contributor Gianno Caldwell among the names.
A Visit From a Sexual Harassment Attorney
The lawsuit is part of a case which recently resulted in Fox News firing news anchor Ed Henry on July 1. According to Catherin Foti, Henry’s lawyer, accuser Jennifer Eckhart began and encouraged a sexual relationship with the host who received graphic photos and explicit messages from her. But Eckhard tells a different story, claiming that the 49-year-old host handcuffed, photographed, and raped her in a hotel room. She also claims he asked her to be his “sex slave” and “little whore”. Foti, however, claims that while it is good that many people are speaking out, this case should not be considered as part of that movement:
“The Me Too movement has helped to bring to light a number of injustices in our society, and everyone that has suffered deserves to be heard,” She said. “This is not one of those cases.”
Fox News acted quickly and fired Henry as soon as the network became aware of the allegations.

After firing Bill O’Reilly, Fox assured that it takes claims of harassment seriously. Recent claims, however, show that there is still some work to be done behind the scenes.
