More than half of Brits (51%) believe chips should be elevated from a traditional side and belong on plates in more premier and sophisticated dining experiences, according to new national research.

The study, by frozen chip challenger, Lamb Weston, revealed that gone are the days where chips would be an afterthought, but are now seen as suitable to dish up for any occasion, whether it’s a night in with friends and family in front of the TV or a sit down meal at a five star restaurant.

Not only that, but the data also shows that in the five years since lockdown, almost six in ten (57%) respondents are now more daring than ever when it comes to new recipes and food choices.

This is thanks, in part, to TikTok’s rise during and beyond the pandemic, where creative home cooking has become a global phenomenon, and Brits are proudly shaking up mealtimes as a result.

This increased appetite to push the possibilities of home cooking includes reimagining chips, one of the nation’s favourite foods, with the brand’s research showing that more than two in five UK adults (42%) actually value chips as the star component of any meal.

To embrace the nation’s appetite to go bolder and braver with their meal choices and desire to give chips a well-deserved upgrade at home, Lamb Weston has launched a brand new ‘Chippy Tea’ menu paying homage to great British classics as you’ve never seen them before.

Serving up their delicious Seasoned Twister Fries, Thick Cut Pub Chips and Potato Dippers, the frozen chip brand has produced a unique three-part taster menu, perfect for those looking to explore the potential of the beloved chip.

Lamb Weston debuted the new recipes at an exclusive pop up event in London. Chip lovers can now enjoy the recipes themselves and feel empowered to get more imaginative with mealtimes.

Lamb Weston’s diverse product range is made from specially selected potato varieties that create the best chips, available in a selection of cuts including curly Twister Fries, ridged Salt & Pepper Grill Fries and Crunchy Ziggy Fries, with something to suit every taste and preference around the dinner table.

Alecia Brown, Marketing Manager from Lamb Weston, said: “At Lamb Weston we celebrate the potential of what potatoes can become; amazing, delicious fries. We pride ourselves on always looking for ways to innovate and challenge the status quo when it comes to chip creations and these recipes allow our customers to do exactly that.

“It has been an incredible experience to work closely with our chef partners to create a tantalising menu that is daring, exciting and, most importantly, delicious.

“With home cooking one of social media’s biggest trends, it’s clear there is a strong appetite for experimental creations, and we are here to serve.”

Lamb Weston’s skin-on product range is available now in Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and The Food Warehouse stores nationwide. The MRSP for each product varies from £2.75 to £3.30.
