Chris Bryant MP to deliver Hacked Off’s 9th annual Leveson Lecture
Chris Bryant MP represents the Rhondda constituency in Parliament, and is Chair of the Parliamentary Standards Committee.
He is a former Foreign Office Minister and has held the roles of Shadow Leader of the House of Commons and Shadow Culture Secretary in Opposition.
Mr Bryant is also an author and historian, and an expert on Parliamentary procedure.
Haroon Siddique is Legal Affairs Correspondent for the Guardian newspaper, and is journalist Director of the Scott Trust.
Previously, he was a reporter and senior reporter at the Guardian, where he has worked for over 15 years. His work includes a series of articles in 2021 about “how and why Black Britons suffer unequal outcomes at the hands of the police”, which were long-listed for an Orwell Prize.
Mr Siddique co-organised a letter to the Society of Editors in 2021, which was critical of a statement from the Society which appeared to deny the presence of racism in the newspaper industry.
Ellen Judson is the Head of CASM, the digital research hub at Demos.
Since joining Demos in 2019, Ms Judson has led projects including investigating state-aligned gendered disinformation, public attitudes to and experiences of technology, and protecting privacy and anonymity online. She leads CASM’s engagement with government, civil society and industry on digital regulation and , in particular around the Online Safety Bill. She regularly provides expert commentary for radio and programmes including BBC Panorama and The Moral Maze, and has given evidence to several Parliamentary Committees.
Her focus is on how information environments and technologies are being weaponised, and how they can be better designed and deployed to give people more power, protect their rights, and reduce the risks of violence.
The Leveson Lecture is an annual event organised by the Hacked Off Campaign.
