CINEWORLD CELEBRATES MATRIX 20TH ANNIVERSAY WITH EXCLUSIVE 4DX SCREENING

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of iconic film classic, The Matrix, Cineworld, the nation’s leading cinema chain,  will be exclusively screening The Matrix in 4DX, for the first time in the UK.

Hitting screens across 23 Cineworld cinemas, the public are invited to join cult-hero Neo on the 17th and 25th July 2019, to experience their very own dystopian reality.

With stimulating effects like motion, water, wind, scent and strobe lighting timed with precision to enhance what’s happening on screen, combined with high-tech motion programming to move your seat in perfect synchronicity, it’s The Matrix like never seen, or experienced, before.

First released in 1999, the film has amassed fans the world over, with critics at the time applauding its spectacular action and groundbreaking special effects. Twenty years on and the cult classic has been reformatted to enhance the cinematic experience for a modern day audience. Set in a dystopian future, the cyberpunk action classic, features a world in which humanity is unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality, the Matrix, created by artificial beings to distract humans while using their bodies as an energy source. When computer programmer Thomas Anderson, under the hacker alias “Neo”, uncovers this truth, he is drawn into a rebellion against the machines along with other people who have been freed from the Matrix.

The Matrix is the first of a selection of classic films to be shown in 4DX for the first time in the UK this summer, with Cineworld’s highly anticipated “Never Been Seen” returning for a second year. The one-day event, which allows film fans to experience some of their favourite movies like never before, will host exclusive 4DX screenings of favourite movies for the first time later this summer.

If you’re ready to be transported in to a new world, you can book tickets to watch The Matrix in 4DX on Wednesday 17th July here and tickets for the 25th July showing will be available shortly.
