Climate Party Surges Towards Financial Goal
Climate Party Crowdfunder Surges towards Financial Goal on Back of By-election Exposure
On the back of the exposure gained from standing in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip and the Selby and Ainsty by-elections the crowdfunding campaign of the Climate Party has attracted considerable new investment.
“Our brave stand in the two by-elections has attracted a lot of attention resulting in further considerable donations to our crowdfunding campaign. We have covered our campaign expenses and now are getting contributions towards our ongoing organisational costs.” says Steff Wright, Chairman of the Climate Party. “While wildfires battered Europe and Canada, we lit a spark in Uxbrdge and in Selby. From that spark will come a political wildfire which will sweep away the climate denying dinosaurs and light a huge beacon of hope for British people and the climate.”
Ed Gemmell, leader of the Climate Party who stood in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election adds “the by-election was a brutal experience up against massive well-oiled political machines with each of the major parties delivering dozens of leaflets and putting hundreds of activists on the streets, most of whom were not from the local area. It was also a lesson in integrity, or lack of it, with the Conservatives driving the conversation away from the main issue for local people which was 100% policing and crime at the start of the by-election. They created much angst about ULEZ and weaponised the issue. Immediately post this by-election there has been an appalling weakening of commitment to environmental policies by the main two parties – should this be the position as we come to the General Election, we will ruthlessly expose it.”
Gemmell adds “The Climate Party has put a stake in the ground. We are off the mark. Standing in these two elections shows how serious we are about driving action on climate change while ensuring Britain benefits from the commercial opportunities presented by it. If we are ever to get out of our cost of living crisis and inflation we need to invest in the new clean industrial revolution and lead the World seeing jobs, investment and prosperity in Britain.”
Having raised £7,500 so far, the Climate Party’s Crowdfunder goes into its last week with the aim of reaching £12,500. Please donate now:
