Consultus Care & Nursing Launch a unique ‘peer-to-peer’ Carer Advice Portal to Support National Recruitment Campaign

Long-established, family-run provider of live-in carers and nurses, Consultus Care & Nursing has launched ‘Ask A Carer’, its new carer portal. This online community forum offers real-time advice, support and mentorship for carers across the country as well as those considering a career in caring from a community of active carers with years of experience to draw from.

With Skills For Care announcing the UK will require another 480,000 carers by 2035, the launch also marks the start of Consultus’ national recruitment campaign to find people who are looking for a long-term career in social care, although it’s portal is for anyone looking for peer-to-peer support. Users can simply visit www.consultuscare.com/ask-a-carer and ask a Consultus carer a question about the role, the sector, or the company, for example.

A Consultant Carer that volunteers for ‘Ask A Carer’ believes the portal provides a vital platform for the industry: “This portal is for anyone in the profession, anywhere in the UK, and aims to help carers be the best they can be through ongoing support and sharing of best practice. It’s also a great opportunity for me to provide a real insight into the live-in carer role and help new recruits make an informed decision as to whether this is the right career for them. It takes a special person to be a live-in carer and we want to find those people.”

Consultus has been providing live-in carers and nurses across the UK for almost 60 years so the company is well positioned to provide such industry support. Peter Seldon, CEO of Consultus, commented of the launch: “We created our ‘Ask A Carer’ portal in response to requests from the carer community for a live forum that enables carers to ask questions, give advice and share their experiences. My hope is that the years of experience and knowledge these wonderful people have acquired in their careers can be shared with the wider caring profession ensuring high quality care for those in need of a live-in carer.

“Of course we also hope to recruit many new carers during our recruitment drive with the support of our portal and in-house training capability but it’s vital we recruit the right people as live-in care is an incredibly rewarding, flexible and well-paid career but it requires people who are naturally caring, positive minded and capable.”

Consultus has an award-winning, in-house training centre accredited by Skills for Care as a ‘Centre of Excellence’, and provides live virtual training online, as well as a wide range of courses designed to equip carers with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver a continuously high standard of care – just 40 minutes by train from London. Individuals can stay in one of three comfortable carer houses close to the Consultus campus, and decide on the level of training they want to undertake once their initial induction and training is complete. Advanced courses include BTEC Awards and Diplomas are available as well as a variety of continuous professional development courses to update and increase knowledge and skills throughout their career.
