David Wilson Homes unveils first selection of electric charging points
Housebuilder David Wilson Homes has unveiled for the first time a selection of electric vehicle charging points (EVCPs) at its Kilners Grange in Tongham, Surrey. The unveiling event was attended by Councillors Paul Spooner and Matt Furniss, who took part in a tour of the development and discussed the sustainable measures that David Wilson Southern Counties is introducing to its new homes developments.
The event marked the reveal of the first EVCP at Kilners Grange, where a total of 45 EVCPs will be installed at the development once complete. The event saw Councillor Paul Spooner, Borough Councillor for Ash South and Tongham, and Councillor Matt Furniss, Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure at Surrey County Council, join representatives from David Wilson Southern Counties to view the development and find out more about the housebuilder’s commitment to increasing electric vehicle ownership in Tongham.
Councillor Paul Spooner commented: “It is always a pleasure to learn about new developments in my area, and find out how housebuilders are doing their part to tackle the climate emergency. Built-in charging points make it easier than ever for residents to make the switch to electric vehicles, so it is great to see David Wilson Southern Counties increasing the provision in Tongham.”
Councillor Matt Furniss added: “As the Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure, I am very supportive of schemes in our county that promote sustainable travel. By reducing the number of petrol and diesel vehicles on the road, we can begin to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in our villages. I welcome the inclusion of electric vehicle charging points at Kilners Grange, and would like to thank David Wilson Southern Counties for its commitment to improving our sustainable transport network.”
The visit also offered an opportunity for Councillors Paul Spooner and Matt Furniss to learn more about David Wilson Southern Counties’ commitment to producing zero carbon homes by 2030.
Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Southern Counties, comments: “With the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel cars set to come in at the end of the decade, we are doubling down on our commitment to future-proofing our residents’ homes. Part of this strategy includes increasing our own off-street electric charging point provision, which is a major step to achieving our own carbon reduction targets, and helping our residents to reduce their own carbon footprints.”
Kilners Grange has been commended the ‘Build for Life’ award. The independent accreditation is a recognition for well-built new homes, neighbourhoods and communities. The quality mark check design elements including access for local facilities, parking, landscaping and traffic management.
Currently available at Kilners Grange is a collection of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £474,995.
