DIANA’S EX BODYGUARD: SHE WOULD HAVE HEALED FEUDING PRINCES

PRINCESS Diana would have healed the rift between Harry and William – and may have prevented Megxit, her former bodyguard has said.
Ken Wharfe said he believed she would have urged her son and wife Meghan to give things “more time” before walking away from Royal duties.
The ex-SAS trained protection officer, who had responsibility for guarding Harry and William, also said he urged Diana not to give up police security following her divorce from Charles and said had it been in place that night in Paris 25 years ago she’d most likely still be alive.
Mr Wharfe, who has published two books on his time guarding Diana and her sons, told GB News: “With regards to William and Harry, I feel like they really need someone to broker this set up. As two young children, William and Harry were joined at the hip. Their father, Prince of Charles, saw them as part of a pyramid to take the Royal Family into the future. Sadly, it looks like he’s lost one third of that now. But Diana would have understood where Harry was coming from. However, their departure was really sudden from the Royal Family. I don’t think Meghan gave it a real chance.”
Commenting on the reasons why he believes Harry and Meghan walked away, Mr Wharfe, who was called “Uncle Ken” by the Princes, added: “Like Diana, Meghan was incredibly popular when she first joined the Royal Family. The Royal Family tend to have an issue with people coming into the Family who are popular so I think that was an issue. Diana would have been a good go between to sort this out but sadly it never happened. Diana having been there herself would have seen the value of giving it some time.”
Mr Wharfe also reflected on Diana’s tragic death 25 years ago in Paris and said how he’d urged her not to give up her official Scotland Yard security following her divorce from Charles.
Revealing details of a private meeting she had with Diana after he left his role at her side, he said: “She said at the very end of our meeting, you’ve always given me good advice, so what piece of advice would you give me? I said whatever you do, don’t give up your Scotland Yard protection. I said: ‘You are going to need this’. Sadly she never did it. That, for me, is the reason why Diana died. I’ve been critical of her security that night in Paris. We need to look at what went wrong in Paris. There was no conspiracy. It was the ineptitude of her security.”
Despite the toxicity of Harry and Meghan’s exit, Mr Wharfe said there is still a chance they could return to the Royal fold one day.
He said: “I think we could see Harry and Meghan return in a new style, in a new format. Who knows? There’s a lot of conversation going on about it. Everything is hinging now about what Harry might say in this book.”
Reflecting on Diana’s life and legacy Mr Wharfe added in his interview with Mark Dolan: “Diana was such fun. I’ve never laughed so much working with anyone. She always craved to be normal. Her fun, her compassion stood out. Her kids were her life. Charles is the same. He is an incredibly generous man. He also understood the nature of the relationship Diana had with the boys. He also understood and accepted the fact they preferred spending time with their mother.”
