For many, passing their driving test in the height of summer opens up the gateway of exploring new places, as the seasons change. If you’re looking to up your Insta game, autumn is the perfect time to do so. That’s why, here, we take a look at some of the best places you can visit, along with fun things you can do, now that you’re driving in and around Leeds.

Horsforth Pick Your Own

What? We’ve had sunflower season, now it’s all about the pumpkin. Grab your pals, as well as your smartphone, and enjoy an afternoon pumpkin picking at the patch on Kemps Farm. The orange backdrop will provide the perfect autumn vibes for your feed. Choose between mini and mega, orange and white pumpkins – and even purchase a carving kit to take home, so your ghoulish creation can have its very own square on your grid. There’s also a corn maize and refreshments, so why not make a day of it? Due to the current regulations, Horsforth PYO are operating a ticket-only policy, with numbers limited, and remember, it’s still a working farm.

Where? West End Lane, Horsforth. Enter the postcode LS18 5ES into your navigational device, and you’ll be good to go. But you’ll be pleased to know, it’s as simple as going north up the A65. There’s on-site parking, but be sure to follow the directions. Tickets are £2 per person, and are available here. The event only lasts until the end of the month, with tickets selling fast, so be sure to book online to avoid disappointment.

Harewood House Workshops

What? Autumn Floristry with Leaf Couture. Wreaths are all the rage, and these days, they’re not just strictly limited to the festive season. More and more people are buying (or making) front door wreaths for Easter, Summer and Autumn – and now you can get in on the action too. After all, a beautiful frontage makes for a beautiful backdrop when taking all those outfit-of-the-day shots, or homely snaps, if you have a home décor account. After learning the basics, it will be over to you to create your masterpiece – using gorgeous seasonal flowers and foliage, all locally sourced from across Yorkshire. Refreshments will also be provided – after all, crafting is thirsty work!

Where? Harewood House is in the village of Harewood. There’s plenty of free parking, so don’t panic about not getting to put your new skills into use. The postcode you’ll need for your sat nav is LS17 9LQ, which takes you to the main entrance, just off the A61. The grounds are only 7 miles from Leeds and Harrogate, on the A61. Or if you’re coming from Wetherby, follow the A659 west.

Wolfox Coffee

What? A beautiful light and airy café, Wolfox is the perfect place for all your brunch, or coffee and cake snaps. As well as all the open space, the café has plenty of marble and granite tables, so you can reach perfection when capturing your time-consuming flat lay shots. But away from all the aesthetics, Wolfox pride themselves on delicious organic coffee and their blends are also available to purchase, so you can go on to replicate Wolfox in your own kitchen! If you’re on a health-kick, start the day with a Buddha bowl – just take a look at the café’s Insta grid to see how dreamy they look!

Where? Wolfox Leeds is based on Wellington Street in the city centre. Your best bet for parking is the Wellington Street multi-storey, just around the corner from the café – it’s literally just off the ring-road, so you can’t miss it! The all-important postcode you’ll need is LS1 4LT. While it’s a little pricey, it comes out cheaper than some of the other parking areas in the city, and as you are in the centre, it’s to be expected.

Roundhay Park

What? It’s one of the biggest parks in Europe and has plenty to offer, for all of your Insta needs. There’s nothing like an autumnal walk through crisp, brightly coloured leaves and, of course, getting that iconic feet shot! But Roundhay Park is also home to Tropical World, where you can pose amongst butterflies or baby meerkats, or even just in front of cascading waterfalls. If you’re into walking, whether that’s long-distance or not, the park offers numerous trails – from 0.7 to 2.7km. You can’t beat some fresh air, especially during the colder months, so bring your tea/coffee flask, leave the car in the car park and go explore! And during these times, things may be a little different, so keep up to date with the latest news and events online.

Where? Roundhay Park is just three miles north of Leeds City Centre. And because it spans an area of 700 acres, visitors are blessed with not one, but five car parks – all of which offer free parking. The postcode LS8 2HH will take you to Mansion Lane, where one of the parking areas is based. This map explains it all much better than we have!
