Eamonn Holmes pays tribute to personal trainer who helps him cope with chronic pain
The GB News presenter spoke out to support the release of a new book called Body by personal trainer to the stars James Davies.
Eamonn who has turned to James to help him cope with his own fight with ongoing pain said: “So many people suffer chronic pain which could be avoided. The idea is to follow James’ rules before things go wrong.”
Describing the treatment he receives he added: “Usually when he’s working on my body, it is nothing but pain but I do listen to what James’ has to say.
“James’s book is about healing, resetting and restoring your body. A lot of people will be suffering pain and it is an awful thing.”
James, whose clients include David Beckham and Joe Wicks, told GB News many people weren’t dedicating enough time to the issue.
He said: “We don’t think about us enough. We are the last people that we think about.
“We have to just look at the small clues, so it can just be a one out of 10 pain, it can be an 8 that’s been there for like years, then all of a sudden turns into a 9 out of 10 and then we’re like, ‘where the hell did this come from?’
“My book takes the reader on a journey to kind of find these clues quickly and do something about it.
“I just feel that you have to do all you can to avoid surgery. There’s so many tools that you can use.”
James, who also trains Kylie Minogue, said of Eamonn’s recovery: “I would say it’s been a journey because when I first met Eamonn, he was in a lot of pain, constant pain, so I’m really proud.
“The thing is, Eamonn has learned a lot about his body now. I am seriously so proud of you for your progress and I know that we still have a long way to go.”
James said: “People don’t know how to express it if they’re in pain and you look at the NHS, the doctor, or any type of medical person, they are working hard and there’s limited time.
“In this book, I teach them the terminology to get their points across. Because there’s different layers, textures to it to pain, the intensity, the character.
“Hopefully, in this book they can find answers and go to a GP or someone such as myself.”
He added: “As a nation, we don’t move and we slowly seize up, so it’s those clues again – if we don’t move things seize up. We need to squat more and we need to continue to move around.
“The best thing in this book is about multitasking. We like to watch Netflix and our favourite TV shows, so while we’re doing this, we can do squats. On the sofa, we can jump on the spot.
“It doesn’t have to be an hour because I think as a nation we feel that we have to go to the gym and punish ourselves, but it can just be a little dose every single day.”
