The housebuilder will aim to positively influence the travel patterns of future residents through the encouragement of greater use of public transport and other sustainable modes of travel, in an effort to reduce reliance on private cars.

The mission to travel in an eco-friendly manner will be implemented using a number of strategies including offering residents opportunities such as a week’s free train travel from North Fambridge to Wickford or Southminster, a cycle service in the form of an annual local mobile bike surgery and the promotion of local walking groups including Essex Ramblers.

David Wilson Homes’ vision also includes the promotion of social inclusion by identifying that a wide range of transport options are easily available for new residents, including those with disabilities, and that local amenities are accessible.

Annette Hurst, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “The sustainable travel plan at Riverside Grange is ideal for those looking to contribute to a greener future.

“North Fambridge already holds great access for its residents via walking and cycle routes and we’re hoping to encourage our future residents to consider the more environmentally-friendly methods of travelling locally.

“Surrounded by a picturesque rural setting, there’s no better way to enjoy the opportunities than to make more sustainable journeys.”

On a wider scale, parent company Barratt Developments has committed to reduce its direct carbon emissions from its business operations – in offices, developments and show homes – by 29% by 2025.

It will also cut its indirect carbon emissions, such as those coming from its homes over their lifetime and from across its supply chain, by 11% by 2030.

Driving this vision will involve reducing diesel use, which is combined with David Wilson Homes’ efforts to encourage residents to make best use of sustainable transport at Riverside Grange.

Since 2015, the UK’s leading housebuilder has achieved a 22% fall in emissions and is still striving to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Riverside Grange is just a short drive away from the charming of town of Maldon and has travel links to the bustling city of Chelmsford. Residents can spend time exploring the historic attractions in the area and a range of antique centres, while remaining close to home.

A number of primary schools are within easy reach for buyers with children seeking education close by.

The development currently has a selection of four and five bedroom properties available with prices starting from £579,995.
