Football fans from Essex have been angered after singer Olly Murs took a jibe at a local non-league side who lost a game.
Halstead Town FC took on Coggeshall Town FC yesterday at Shrub End. The match ended 10-2 with Coggeshall winning, Murs’ uncle is reportedly part of the Cogesshall outfit and whilst last season the Xfactor presenter threw some banter in the works a Halstead fan told us “He has taken it too far”
Yesterday Murs took to twitter tweeting “Cowboy United 10-2 Cunliffe Town “
The tweet which refers to “Cunliffe Town” is being seen as a personal attack against Halstead captain Lewis Cunliffe.
Twitter user @officialminoo reacted saying “Unlike @CoggeshallTown and @ollyofficial we don’t have someone who tries to sing pumping money into a dead end club with no atmosphere.”
In the native Murs already faced uproar late last year when it was reported that a fundraiser to raise £25,000 to pay for a little girl to walk again was cancelled to make way for Olly Murs’ concert at Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester.
Tonight The Daily Brit reached out to Murs’ rep for comment whilst sources close to Halstead Town FC declined to comment.
