Esther McVey – “MATT HANCOCK COULD END UP A NATIONAL TREASURE”

ESTHER McVey says her Tory colleague Matt Hancock could win over the country with his stint on I’m A Celebrity.

The former Health Secretary has been criticised by some for agreeing to appear on the ITV show.

But speaking on GB News today, Esther asked: “Could he, by the end, rather than be a sort of villain and person of hatred, actually end up a national treasure as we all get our anger out as he does every bushtucker trial.

“He may do what no other politician ever managed to do before, which is deliver 100% unification, with all voting for him to do those trials!”

Meanwhile showbiz expert Sarah Robertson says she expects Boy George to confront Mr Hancock in the Jungle.

Speaking on Esther and Philip Davies’ GB News show today (FRIDAY), Sarah said: “Come on, Boy George, you can’t let us down! I wonder, Boy George and a vitriolic outburst at Matt Hancock. I would really go for it!”

Asked if Mr Hancock will be good for viewing figures, she added: “I think so, because people will want to tune in in order to vote for him to do all of the trials, and there’s going to be some really nasty trials this year.

“So people are going to want to see Matt Hancock, you know, in a coffin with creepy crawlies running all over him.”

On the suggestion of him becoming a national treasure instead, she said: “Maybe that’s what Matt Hancock thinks it’s going to happen and that’s what he’s told himself, but…People have just been sickened by what he put the country through for two years with this lockdown.”\
Earlier this week showbiz expert Jonathan Shalit told GB News Mr Hancock deserved the chance to appear on the ITV show and to rebuild his life.

Mr Shalit, founder and chairman of Intertalent Rights Group, said: “Listen, he knows his time as a cabinet minister and senior role in the Government has finished. He’s got an ex-wife to support, he’s got children to support, he’s got a girlfriend, and now [he has to] support his divorce. He’s got a lot of bills to pay.

“You don’t pay those bills on a backbench MP’s salary, so he needs to go out there and earn money to make a living like we all do, so I think that’s probably part of the equation.

“But I have to tell you, I’ve met Matt quite a few times. He’s a really nice guy and I think yes, he made a mistake during Covid…however, I don’t think he deserves to be condemned all of his life…

“He has a right to get on with his life and move forward.”
