Faith In Nature opens first ever crowdfund in mission to shake up the sustainable space
Leaders in ethical and refillable personal care since 1974, Faith In Nature, have launched their first ever Crowdcube campaign, and have already successfully hit 97% of their target on day one of opening for early access investment. The crowdfund comes as part of their mission to make positive environmental choices accessible to everyone, every day.
Faith In Nature recently made headlines for being the first brand in the world to appoint Nature to their board of directors; giving the natural world a legal voice and a vote on all business decisions. Now, the brand is looking to raise a minimum of £550,000 via crowdfunding platform Crowdcube, to continue taking even bigger and better steps to reduce their environmental impact, such as seeking out greener ways to manufacture, sustainable product innovation and helping to create eco-friendly options to suit modern shopping habits.
Faith In Nature’s creative director and co-founder of Nature on the Board, Simeon Rose, says “After 50 years, we’re really excited to be welcoming investors for our business for the very first time. We truly believe that this isn’t just an opportunity to invest in a commercially successful brand, but in everything we stand for too. From looking after the future of our planet and seeking out sustainable innovation to championing the brand at the forefront of the legal rights of nature movement, we want to make it even easier to do good both for people and the planet.”
The news comes following their announcement of B Corp status, cementing their commitment to continuing to be a force for good. The brand has also pledged to use their investment to “continually reimagine what it means to be a green company in today’s world”, using funds to move to a new site for greener manufacturing, creating products to better suit a circular economy and accelerating the rate at which they reduce their plastic footprint.
A trailblazing brand of many firsts
Pioneers in the natural beauty space, Faith In Nature has long dedicated their business to offering affordable yet sustainable options when it comes to buying personal care items, including being one of the very first brands to bring refillable products to the market back in the 1970s. Now their extensive offering includes a range of 1L-25L refillable hair care, body care and laundry products, as well as their popular zero-waste collection of shampoo, conditioner, and soap bars. As standard, Faith In Nature use fully recycled and recyclable plastic across the majority of their products, and has done so since 1999, saving over 100,000 kilos of plastic. Dedicated to their ethos of making it easy for people to make better choices for the planet, Faith In Nature also have hundreds of refill stations across the UK, making it easier for their customers to shop refillable locally.
In addition to being the first brand in the world to give nature a legal seat at the board of directors, Faith In Nature were also one of the first to receive the ‘Leaping Bunny’ cruelty free mark of certification. Today, Faith In Nature is also an award-winning brand, including Natural Health Beauty Awards, Woman&Home Hair Awards and CEW Awards, in addition to having amassed thousands of loyal customers, and an average review score of 4.6 on Trust Pilot. Faith In Nature is also readily available to shop in several popular UK high street shops, including Boots, Holland & Barrett, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Planet Organic.
Investing in the future of our planet.
The sustainable, ethical beauty space is predicted to surge to an estimated $54.5 billion in 2027, as growingly conscious consumers and brands place environmental protection within their top concerns when making purchases. Research has also shown that 91% of shoppers agree that sustainable packaging, doing social good, and a brand’s ethical reputation are all important factors when deciding who to spend with.
Faith In Nature are part of World Land Trust’s carbon balanced programme to offset their carbon footprint, and also plant a tree with TreeSisters for every order placed via the website. The partnership has been running since 2021, helping to support the charity with ethical and nature-led reforestation and advocating for Nature’s Rights. In the first year alone, Faith In Nature helped to plant 33,515 saplings across worldwide locations.
With 99% naturally derived and vegan formulas, recyclable packaging and a portfolio made up of 40% bulk refillable products, Faith In Nature aim to put their investment towards further innovation in the recyclable, reusable packaging space. Last year alone the brand successfully reduced the energy required in their manufacturing process by 40% and have further plans to reduce this by an additional 20% in the next 18 months.
To help make better, greener and more responsible choices, Faith In Nature place one question at the heart of all decision-making, asking “What Would Nature Say?”. The question encourages all employees to ensure nature is advocated for in all decisions, with the hope of further investing in innovation and improvements that will only help benefit nature.
