Film festival bestows highest honour on actor Ashley Walters

Today, British actor Ashley Walters celebrated his 35th birthday and the announcement of his BT British Urban Film Festival Honorary Award at the infamous BT Towers on Maple Street W1T. Walters, the star of Top Boy which was executively produced by Drake and Lebron James was honoured for 25 years of service to acting. His first TV role was the character of Omar in Grange Hill 1992.
In attendance was Wil Johnson (Waking the Dead) and Marc Bannerman, Clint Dyer, Damian Jones and Tony Singh, the Head of BT TV who gave the keynote speech to celebrate the occasion.
43 films were announced and 25 award nominees including David Oyelowo MBE , Rosamund Pyke, David Gyasi, Femi Oyeniran and Amma Asante MBE. The awards ceremony scheduled for Sun 10th September will be broadcast via www.bt.com to over 8 million subscribers.
