In specialty item news, Distortion Inc. and Filter have partnered to introduce The Short Bus Pedal, to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the band’s debut release “Short Bus.”

“We’ve dug up all the original gear from my mom’s basement to make the pedal identical to the ‘Short Bus’ sound,” says Richard Patrick, founder and leader of Filter. “The result is uncanny. You better believe you’ll be ripping all your favorite ‘Short Bus’ tracks with this thing.”

The Short Bus Pedal is a limited-edition authentic piece of working gear that comes with a numbered certificate signed by Patrick, making it a true collector’s item. The pedal is available now on pre-order at filterpedal.com and starts shipping in late February.

The pedal is built to be used and abused: “This is a serious piece of gear made for the stage,” says Patrick, who has personally overseen the development. Patrick will be using the pedal on the upcoming European tour dates, and a stage played and signed version will be available for sale during and after the tour. Watch this space: filterpedal.com

In addition, after a successful run of limited-edition skateboards from Volatile Skateboards, Filter has re-teamed with the renegade skateboard company for a new board featuring the artwork from “The Algorithm.” Get it here: https://www.volatileskateboards.com/filter

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the band’s birth. In 1993, founder and lead vocalist Patrick placed an ad in Scene Magazine in Cleveland, OH, shortly after leaving Nine Inch Nails as their touring guitarist, looking to form a band that would eventually evolve into Filter.

The celebration of Filter’s anniversary began in late 2022 when Patrick was invited to join Nine Inch Nails for a special fan day Q&A at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The following night NIN mastermind Trent Reznor had Patrick and other former and current NIN band members join him for a special performance at the Blossom Center in Cleveland, OH, where the band was originally formed. The expanded NIN performed such staples as “Eraser,” “Wish,” “Sin,” “Gave Up,” “Head Like a Hole,” and a cover of Filter’s 1994 monster hit, “Hey Man Nice Shot.”

Filter followed that performance with the release of their first new single in over two years – “For the Beaten” which kicked off a new era. 2023 saw the much-anticipated release of a new Filter album “The Algorithm”. Singles “Face Down” and “Obliteration” both had innovative music videos which garnered attention from new and long-time fans alike.
