Food app tackling hunger and poverty celebrates important milestone

Food ordering app Found has donated its 500th meal to those living in food poverty in the UK, with help from charity Feeding Britain.

Donating one meal for every order placed, Found is a convenience app, helping cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants and even street food vendors to thrive by implementing a quick, contactless and cost-effective alternative to traditional ordering and payment for dining in or takeaway.

Found, which launched in the UK back in March, aims to revolutionise the customer experience with better in-venue ordering and a smoother checkout experience that can all be done with the touch of a smartphone.

The more hospitality venues onboard Found’s platform means there will be more meals for those in need, simply by using the app.

In the UK, it’s estimated that 8.4 million people are struggling to afford to eat, equating to the entire population of London. Found has pledged to donate 100,000 meals to those struggling from hunger and poverty in the UK, working to fight hunger in partnership with independent charity Feeding Britain.

Feeding Britain is working towards eliminating hunger in the UK through its partnerships with food banks, local community food organisations, politicians and companies. The organisation aims to demonstrate how hunger and its underlying causes can be addressed and use this learning to advocate for systematic change.

Through its partnership with Feeding Britain, Found is supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 2, Zero Hunger, aiming to end all forms of hunger and malnutrition by 2030 and ensuring that all people, especially children, have access to sufficient and nutritious food. Established by the United Nations in 2015, this goal is one of the 17 SDGs which act as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Found is currently working towards activating its service in more cities and towns around the UK with plans to expand into Europe, the Middle East and United States in the next couple of years.
