Great Place to Work® UK has just unveiled it’s 2020 list of Best Workplaces™ for Women in the UK. Through a rigorous auditing process, a total of 68 awarded organisations have earned official recognition for displaying a strong track record of continuously developing a diversified, equitable workplace culture for all. You can view the full list of 68 recipients here.
Top achievers Salesforce, The Sovini Group, Foundation SP and McCarthy Recruitment each took first place in the Super Large, Large, Medium and Small size categories respectively.
The list is produced by the UK branch of Great Place to Work® – the global authority on workplace culture. Great Place to Work® UK comprehensively audits both the employee experience and business practices of companies across many industries including hospitality, FMCG, financial services, tech, pharmaceutical, and retail. The organisations considered a Best Workplace™ for Women have programmes in place that look specifically at addressing gender imbalance in the workplace and are actively growing female talent.
Their latest research focuses on key issues affecting female employees – such as the gender pay gap, career growth opportunities and parental leave (affecting both women and men) – in UK organisations. Data highlights for UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Women include:
- Fairer opportunity: In Best Workplaces™ for Women, 77% of female employees feel they have an opportunity to grow and develop (compared to 64% in other workplaces)
- Increased retention: 74% of female employees in Best Workplaces™ for Women would like to work at their current employer for a long time (compared to 67% in other workplaces)
- Senior female leadership: Over the past 20 years, the number of female senior managers and executives has been steadily increasing with this year’s Best Workplaces™ for Women showing nearly 40% of senior management and executive positions held by women.
“It’s clear that a diverse and inclusive team is essential for the success of any organisation – government or otherwise,” says Ben Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® UK. “Various female state leaders have recently served as successful inspiring examples of what it means to put people first and lead with empathy and compassion during the Covid-19 pandemic. In our own data from the last 20 years of running our Best Workplace™ awards, we’ve uncovered significant positive changes taking place within many UK organisations – but there’s still much work to be done. We hope that by highlighting our Women’s list recipients, other employers will also be encouraged to implement new policies, practices and pathways needed to enable a more inclusive, supportive and fair employee experience for all.”
