Here’s how to become a tour guide for a day at Stirling Highland Games
FVSE, based in Stirling are looking for the next Neil Oliver by offering young people the opportunity to explore their story telling side by becoming a tour guide for a day on Saturday August 19th at Stirling Highland Games.
With the areas leading highland games attracting visitors from all over the world the organisation was keen to support the year of history, heritage and archeaology by creating an additional training programme for young people aged 16 to 40 years old.
The games site within Stirling Sports Village is surrounded by visual history including Cambuskenneth Abbey, Stirling Castle and The Wallace Monument but part of the learning process for young people that sign up for this programme will also help them create a ‘Walk n Talk’ explaining to visitors that the road they are walking on was also the route walked by Robert The Bruce, William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots and James VIth.
This one off training opportunity for young people is free to sign up and takes place on Wednesday 26th July at Forthbank Stadium. Local archealogist, Murray Cook will be leading this session giving tips on some facinating facts about Stirling which will also include a walk around the highland games site giving participants the opportunity to practice before the big day on August 19th.
FVSE would like to thank Enterprise Rent A Car and IFDS Group for their support of this project, allowing more young people to develop core skills through this opportunity. To book a place or for more information please email [email protected] or by calling the office on 07432289445.
