HOUSEBUILDER GIVES A HOG A HOME AT SCHOOL PLAYGROUND

Research from the Natural History Museum estimates that hedgehog populations have decreased by almost half over the last 13 years.* To help conserve these creatures, local housebuilder Barratt Southern Counties has partnered with Bolnore Village Primary School to create a safe home for hedgehogs in the playground this spring.

As hibernation season comes to an end, the housebuilder has donated a warm wooden RSPB ‘hog home’ to the pre-school, in which hedgehogs can use as a safe place to nest in the spring and early summer. The donation also includes nutritious hedgehog food and a feeding bowl.

Lynnette St-Quintin, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “As a sustainable housebuilder, we have a responsibility to provide a safe home not just for people, but for wildlife too. We’re so pleased to work with Bolnore Village Primary School to deliver our ‘Give a Hog a Home’ initiative, and create a safe, permanent habitat for hedgehogs.”

Barratt Developments has an ongoing partnership with the RSPB, the UK’s largest nature conservation charity. The housebuilder is on a mission to encourage schools and families near its developments to make small changes to safely co-exist with wildlife.

Mr Maker at Bolnore Village Primary School comments: “We are so excited to offer a home for hedgehogs in our playground. It is a fantastic opportunity to do our bit to shelter this diminishing species, and teach the children about the importance of preserving our wildlife. We’d like to thank Barratt Homes for its generous donation to us.”

Currently available at Wychwood Park is a collection of three, four, and five-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £379,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home.
