Impington Village College students crowned champions of the South East Cambridgeshire Schools Debating Competition
Year 11 students, Marina and Rose at Impington Village College have won first and second place at the South East Cambridgeshire Schools Debating Competition. Hosted by local MP and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Lucy Frazer, at the Palace of Westminster, the competition, focused on two motions: This House believes that only adults should be allowed to join social media and This House believes GCSEs should be abolished.
Commenting on the students’ success, Principal, Victoria Hearn, said: “I am tremendously proud of Marina and Rose; their achievement is a testament to their research, preparation and thoughtful contributions. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) fosters the development of listening and communication skills in all of our students through continuous discussion about the world around them. I am delighted to see these skills recognised by Secretary of State, Lucy Frazer.”
