Indeed Flex launches major new initiative to help Ukrainian refugees find work in the UK
Indeed Flex, the online marketplace for flexible workers, has launched a major new initiative to enable Ukrainian refugees to find work in the UK.
It comes as official figures reveal that 107,200 Ukraine Scheme visas have been issued to allow Ukrainians fleeing the war to come to the UK, with 21,600 having already arrived1.
Indeed Flex wanted to make it easier for Ukrainian refugees to find jobs, even if they arrive here with no CV and little knowledge of English. The platform, which is already used regularly by 50,000 people to find temporary work in a range of sectors, has overhauled its processes and hired a Ukrainian-speaking onboarding team, based in the UK, to guide refugees through the process.
Candidates from Ukraine don’t need to fill in lengthy application forms; they can talk through their work background, skills and the sort of job they’d like with the onboarding team in an online interview. Indeed Flex’s team will then find them suitable roles in their chosen area of the UK.
Crucially, Indeed Flex has launched its app in Ukraine, enabling those planning to come to Britain to secure offers of work before they even arrive.
Indeed Flex specialises in temporary and flexible roles, giving ‘Flexers’ the opportunity to pick the days and hours that work best for them. It currently has thousands of shifts available, across the UK, in the hospitality, industrial, facilities management and retail sectors.
Full details can be found, in English and Ukrainian, on the Jobs for Ukrainian Refugees page of the Indeed Flex website.
Novo Constare, COO and Co-founder of Indeed Flex, said:
“The first thing the thousands of Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK need is safety and a roof over their heads. But the second thing many will want is a job, to provide financial stability and help them settle into UK life.
“Finding work in a foreign country where you may not know anyone, and when you’ve left your home, possessions and career behind, is daunting.
“That’s why we want to help. We’ve made it as easy as possible for Ukrainians who’ve come – or are coming – to Britain to use our platform to find flexible work, enabling them to connect with companies who need extra staff to fill shifts.
“More than 100,000 Britons volunteered to house a Ukrainian refugee within 24 hours of the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme going live in March. I believe many businesses share that generosity of spirit, and our Jobs for Ukrainian Refugees initiative now enables employers to do their bit too – by offering shifts to suitably qualified Ukrainian refugees where they can.”
