Independent medical care provider accelerates growth following funding from HSBC UK

Healthshare, one of the largest community-based medical care providers in the UK, has opened a brand-new Endoscopy Centre in Orpington and expanded its existing clinic in Norwich following a multi-million-pound finance deal from HSBC UK. The expansion has created 27 new jobs.

The funding enabled Healthshare to build a new medical clinic in Crayfields Business Park, Orpington, offering additional endoscopy capacities to the local area. This kind of equipment has previously been lacking within the local area, resulting in patient waiting times of over six months. Opening the site has allowed the company to recruit a full management and endoscopy team.

The financing also allowed the company to redevelop its clinic located on Watton Road in Norwich to introduce a minor operating theatre suite and consulting rooms. The site will also provide MRI services after the purchase of a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, which is one of only two in the whole of Norfolk.

The expansion across both sites has enabled Healthshare to recruit for an additional 27 employees.

Healthshare already serves nearly two million patients across the UK and has grown to one of the largest providers of community-based care, exclusively working alongside the NHS to provide vital support to its services.

Healthshare has an ambitious growth strategy for the future, with plans to open two additional sites with integrated diagnostic services in the next 18 months. Healthshare also has the opportunity to work with the NHS in further areas including mental health, gynaecology and urology, which will add to the business’s 300-strong team of specialist consultants across the UK.

Nick McGrath, Co-owner of Healthshare, commented on the expansion:

“As a team of ex-NHS clinicians, the team at Healthshare is passionate about improving medical care across the UK. We’re excited to be expanding our offering even further to support the NHS and provide cost-effective solutions that deliver improved patient care. HSBC UK’s support in helping us achieve our goals of innovating and developing services that work for patients has been great, and we’re excited to begin welcoming patients.”

Victoria Ritchie, Area Director for London City Corporate Banking at HSBC UK, said:

“Healthshare’s motivation to provide excellent medical services is very impressive. It’s encouraging to see investment into our local health services and exciting to support practical solutions being made to improve medical services for patients.”

The funding package was allocated from HSBC UK’s £14 billion lending fund to support SMEs in the UK.
