‘It’s a second chance for us to do it again’ says Brian McFadden
WESTLIFE’S Brian McFadden said he is raring to go back on tour next month with Boyzone pop pal Keith Duffy and new band Boyzlife.
He told GB News: “We always talk about our biggest regrets of our times in our old bands, when we were at the height of our careers, is that we didn’t enjoy it enough.
“We made it feel like work and we’d go all around the world to these amazing countries, and we wouldn’t experience them, we’d just go do our work, do the concert, back on the plane and leave.
“We’re taking everything in now – we feel it’s a second chance for us to do it again. We’re just making the absolute most of it and loving every second of it.”
In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, he continued: “We still speak to the fans and it’s amazing that every song that we do in the show will spark off a memory for somebody, whether it’s somebody’s wedding song, or somebody else might say that that was their favourite song when they were in school.
“We’re very lucky that we’ve obviously got so many hits between the two bands. I think between Boyzone and Westlife we’ve got over 20 number one singles, so we’ve got plenty of material to sing.
“And that is the good thing, when people come to a show, different people have different favourite songs, so it does become a bit of a roller coaster of memories and emotions.
“But it’s the same for us. We’ve been singing these songs for over 25 years and we’re still doing it.”
He added: “We do about a two-hour set on our tour, and every tour that we do, we kind of shake it up and we change the songs and bring in new songs and lose some songs.
“The great thing about having such a big catalogue of songs is that we can constantly change it. Some people do like to do the new stuff as well, but generally, yes, people are screaming out for the old hits.”
