Legendary actor Jeff Goldblum pitches for dream acting job on national radio
Hollywood star Jeff Goldblum pitched for an acting job on national radio, in what was described as a “three minute audio love letter” to director Henk Handloegten.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the Jurassic Park and Independence Day actor pleaded directly to the German film-maker: “I would love to talk to you about anything that you would consider me for. Is there anything that we could collaborate on together? “
The surprise interjection came in a section of Adrian Chiles show today in which he was singing the praises of Babylon Berlin, a Netflix series about a police inspector during the Weimar Republic, which is directed by Henk.
Speaking to Henk, Adrian said: “Me banging on about how brilliant it is might persuade some people to watch it but I wanted to give it more resonance. So I was casting about for another fan of it who might come on and talk about it…
“And then we read that a legendary American actor was into it. You’re going to love this Henk, I’d sit down if I was you.”
In the “love letter”, Jeff said he had loved every minute of the series, which he watched with his wife Emily.
He added: “We loved it. Of course the whole world does. So we’re just lining up and adding our kudos to the whole business.
“What else are you doing? I would love to talk to you about anything that you would consider me for. Is there anything that we could collaborate on together? And maybe me with those other actors.: Jeez, I’m just so in love with all of you.
“Anyway, that’s all of me. Signing off now. Jeff Goldblum here, thanks for letting me pester you for a little bit.”
You can listen to the whole “love letter” from 2.27 on BBC Sounds here.
