Live comedy is back – Midnight show at The Bill Murray returns
Angel Comedy are wasting no time at all getting their live shows up and running at The Bill Murray once restrictions are relaxed on Monday. Their first live comedy show of 2021 will kick off at one minute past midnight on 17th May.
The show will feature Helen Bauer, Jason Patterson, Sikisa, Dinesh Nathan, Erik Pohl and be hosted by Angel Comedy’s Barry Ferns.
The gig came about in exactly the way you’d imagine in a comedy club run by comedians. In a meeting someone said “17th May? Let’s do one at 1 minute past midnight on the 17th May”, everyone laughed but then almost immediately decided that the sooner we can start gigs again, the better.
Angel co-founder and resident MC Barry Ferns said “2021 has so far been so bleak for live comedy, it feels like we want to start a gig at 1 minute past midnight on 17th May and have it last until 1 minute to midnight on December 31st. We’ve missed it so much. Obviously, that could cause logistical problems, but that’s the feeling in spirit”
He added: ‘We have a late license, but know that social distancing is still in place, so we can’t go too crazy. But even just being inside with other people will feel like we’re gin-running in prohibition America.’
The tickets to the socially distanced live event are only available to Patreon supporters, so we can give something back to some of the people who’ve kept us alive this last year – but the live stream is FREE to everyone! Anyone can watch it, an actual live gig in front of actual live people. They can watch it, as they enter a brave new world of being able to laugh together.
