Local homebuilder installs poppies across West and South Yorkshire to mark Remembrance Sunday
To mark Remembrance Sunday, local homebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has installed giant poppies in the windows of 11 sales offices at developments across West and South Yorkshire.
The poppies, which will be on display throughout November, have been installed to commemorate the armistice agreement that ended the First World War and honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.
Visitors to the sales offices at Ambler’s Meadow, The Bridleways, Gateford Manor, Lock Keeper’s Gate, Momentum, Notton Wood View, Oughtibridge Valley, Salter’s Brook, St Andrews Place, Saxon Dene and Scotgate Ridge can make a £1 donation to purchase a petal that they can stick on the floral display, ultimately creating a flourishing poppy to mark the commemorative event. Royal British Legion poppies will also be available to purchase at the sales offices, to be worn with pride throughout November.
All donations collected from the sales of petals and poppies will be donated to the West Yorkshire division of the Royal British Legion, the nation’s leading Armed Forces charity. The organisation provides care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces past and present across the region and their families.
Sam Wood, Sales Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West commented: “Barratt Developments Yorkshire West is dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces, which is why we’re delighted to be installing poppies in the windows of our sales offices across the region.
“We’d encourage any prospective home buyers and members of the local community to visit one of our sales offices to purchase a petal and help build a commemorative display or purchase a Royal British Legion poppy to mark Remembrance Day on Thursday the 11th of November.”
Barratt Developments offers a range of support to the military servicemen and women. The homebuilders Armed Forces Deposit Contribution Scheme is available across the region, to help those in the armed forces climb the property ladder with a 5% deposit contribution, up to the value of £15,000. For more information on the scheme, prospective home buyers can visit the sales office of their nearest development.
Similarly, the Armed Forces Transition Programme offers training and support to ex-military personnel to work towards becoming a qualified Assistant Site Manager in approximately 12 months.
