London-based Muslim Aid staff in Egypt to oversee Rafah operations
Two staff members of leading UK charity Muslim Aid arrived in Egypt to coordinate lifesaving operations being carried out in Rafah and are available for interview live from the ground, or upon their return to the UK.
Farhal Ahmed (Community Fundraising Manager) and Sam Cook (Global Programmes Manager) have landed in Egypt to oversee the developments in Rafah as Israeli forces their ground invasion in the area.
They are carrying out risk assessments, managing the delivery of aid and using the organisation’s reputation and leverage to coordinate with stakeholders to serve the people of Gaza in their time of dire need.
Rafah is the size of Heathrow Airport, and there are currently 1.5 million people sheltering there, leaving a severe strain on resources.
The current incursion into the area has led to a steep increase in casualties and a potential closing of the Rafah border, which will be disastrous for civilians.
Sam and Farhal can provide a direct insight into the situation on the ground, discuss the challenges and logistics that aid organisations are facing when delivering aid into Gaza and can provide stories of colleagues and civilians inside the besieged enclave.
Muslim Aid is committed to its operations in Gaza, and its staff is working at their maximum capacity to continue saving lives.

Notes to editors:
Muslim Aid has been in Gaza since 2006 and has Served Humanity in every major war Gaza has experienced. This is in addition to ongoing healthcare, housing, livelihoods and community-based education projects to create long-term change in alleviating communities from poverty.
Since the start of this outbreak of conflict, Muslim Aid has been calling for a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors by co-signing letters to the Prime Minister, hosting events in parliament, and engaging with the media to discuss the importance of the advocacy lines.
In February 2024, Allan Dorans MP (SNP) mentioned Muslim Aid’s charity work in Gaza while he was debating in favour of a ceasefire in parliament.
