London holidaymakers changing the way they travel to keep hold of holidays
London holidaymakers are changing the way they travel to ensure they can still get away despite having reduced budgets, new research from loveholidays has shown.
In a poll of 2,000 holidaymakers, the online travel agent found over three in five (61 per cent) of those in London are altering their usual holiday plans so they can travel.
Whether it be going away for a shorter period (50 per cent) or opting for short haul destinations rather than far away locations (36 per cent), London holidaymakers are determined to not let lower budgets get in their way.
Nearly one in four (23 per cent) plan to change where they normally holiday to try out more affordable destinations and, at the booking stage of their holiday journey, almost half (46 per cent) will now try to do more research to land a cheap deal or opt for late night flights to keep prices low (27 per cent).
And with the average London holidaymaker having £340 less in their holiday kitty for their next trip, 51 per cent now feel more pressure than ever to ensure their holidays offer value for money.
But despite facing budget constraints, the research found those in London are still excited about the prospect of holidaying abroad next year, with just 5 per cent strongly disagreeing with this sentiment.
Over two thirds (69 per cent) are determined to be just as adventurous with their holiday plans, while 38 per cent do not want to compromise on experiencing new cultures even if they are struggling to stretch their budgets.
Al Murray, Chief Marketing Officer at loveholidays, said: “In light of the current economic situation, it’s understandable that people want to get the best value for their money when it comes to their holidays.
