LONGSTANTON FOOTBALL CLUB SCORE SPONSORSHIP FROM DAVID WILSON HOMES

Cambridgeshire homebuilder David Wilson Homes is assisting Longstanton FC U8’s with a sponsorship that will provide the team with kits for the upcoming season.

The team, which is based nearby the developer’s Northstowe development, have now been together for three seasons after starting at U6 level. Last season the team suffered many stops and starts due to the pandemic, but are looking forward to playing again this season.

Matt Rowney, Coach of Longstanton FC U8’s, said: “David Wilson Homes’ support is absolutely fantastic for the club and the team are delighted with their new kits.

“The donation made it possible for us to have a new kit which will last us two years. It will be the same standardised kit as our senior team and across other Colts teams, making it easy for our children to aspire to be in that senior team one day.

“Throughout lockdown we ran a series of events for the kids, senior players and their families, for example quizzes and FIFA tournaments. I think the pandemic gave the club and the people involved time to reflect on the importance of sport and community groups and their contribution to society and wellbeing.

“The boys and girls absolutely love the new kit and we feel really privileged to be offered the sponsorship received.”

Brian O’Sullivan, Longstanton FC Chairman, added: “It is with great appreciation that we have received this sponsorship from David Wilson Homes. We are a non-profit making amateur community based club and we try to make playing football accessible and achievable for all.”

Daniel Evans, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We are delighted to have been able to sponsor Longstanton Football Club for the upcoming season.

“As a leading developer it is very important for us to engage with the local community as best we can so that they can thrive.

“We hope the team enjoy their new kits, and we look forward to hearing about their future successes.”
