Love Island stars recreate iconic statues proving the show is owning love this summer!
To mark the launch of the 2022 series, Love Island has taken over iconic statues depicting romance across the UK to show what love can really look like, with Love Island stars and real life couples from the show.
After experiencing the whirlwind that is the Love Island Villa, the couples were enlisted to help replicate the famous sculptures that represent the real-life romance seen on the show – and in doing so, supporting Love Island in claiming back what is rightfully theirs before the new series airs.
Fans can spot 2021 finalists, Teddy Soares and Faye Winter, mimic the famous Rodin’s Kiss outside the Tate Modern in London (where the exhibition recently stood), famous for embracing the true sense of sensuality and romance, and 2020 winners Paige Turley and Finley Tapp replicate the insta-worthy Wincher’s Stance statue in Glasgow, which is known for being named after the Glaswegian term for a relationship.
2020 winners Paige Turley and Finley Tapp commented: “We love reminiscing on our time in the Villa and the show will always have a special place in our heart as it brought us together as a couple. Since leaving the Villa, our relationship has only continued to grow and we’re happier than ever! Love Island is a show that has love at its heart and it’s great to help support the new series launch. Plus, it’s right in my hometown – Glasgow.”
With statues up and down the country being replaced with the success stories from the show, highlights how love really is still in the air – ultimately proving how Love Island truly creates long lasting relationships from each season.
2021 finalists Faye Winter and Teddy Soares commented: ‘’Now we’ve come out the other side of the show, we are still as strong as ever. Not to mention that we’re super excited to see who’s heading to the Villa this season and see what surprises ITV2 have in store! Helping Love Island claim back love just made sense – the show brought us together, so we can’t wait to see more couples fall in love in this series.”
Bringing it all together with host Laura Whitmore, providing the UK with a stylish and modern take on the iconic Piccadilly Circus’ Eros Statue as a modern day cupid. She added: “There’s no doubt that Love Island is the OG of dating shows. With the show coming back on screens in early June, we’re really owning love this summer by taking over some of the nation’s iconic statues – with me naturally replicating the Eros statue as cupid. It’s truly a season of love so stay tuned!”
If that wasn’t enough to step on some toes, Love Island has sent official ‘love letters’ to all those across the UK with ‘love’ and/or ‘heart’ in their names – with a rather cheeky request. The show has asked those to remove or change their name while the show airs this summer – talk about a graft!?
Instagram icons Love of Huns also took to the gram to show off their love letter as the package included some new Love Island lingo surnames that fans can swap to if they choose!
