Love Island’s Liberty named fan favourite on Twitter
Liberty Poole has been named the favourite to win this year’s Love Island, based on a sentiment analysis of Tweets around the show since the season started.
The research, conducted as part of the Self-Made Celebs study, showed that Liberty (21) has seen the highest influx of positive Tweets from fans of the show so far, compared to other contestants including Georgia Townend, Abigail Rawlings and Teddy Soares.
The Twitter sentiment analysis was conducted on Tweets mentioning any of this year’s contestants since the show started airing at the end of June, and involved assigning a positivity and negativity score to each, to see who’s been the best received online by fans.
Liberty has seen an influx of support with fans deeming her genuine and sweet – with a large portion of tweets following Poole telling her partner Jake Cornish she loves him already.
Other contestants that have seen a high influx of positive comments on Twitter included Tyler Cruickshank, Millie Court and Shannon Singh, while Liberty’s partner Jake Cornish ranked far lower, coming out as the fourth least-supported star online.
However, it’s Lucinda Stafford that has seen the least support from fans so far for her actions in the villa – but fans do praise the star for her dress sense and confidence.
Top Ten Love Island Contestants, based on Twitter Fan Support

Interestingly, Shannon Singh boasts a very supportive Twitter fanbase despite being dumped on Episode 3, as does Rachel Finni despite not making it past Episode 13.
Brad McClelland and Sharon Gaffka also saw their Love Island journies come to an end after Episode 15 and Episode 18 respectively.
Peter Bennett, Head of Brand Marketing at fair casino PlayOJO, comments on the analysis: “Although it’s clear that all the contestants featured in the analysis are hugely supported by fans of the show online, it is interesting to see how online sentiment varies from person to person.
“It’s also encouraging to see that the majority of interactions around the contestants on Twitter are positive – particularly given the volatile nature of online forums.”
