Curve Venue in Slough are excited to welcome fun-filled family show ‘The Adventures of the Little Red Hen’ to their stage this Christmas. This energetic and humorous take on the classic tale has been adapted from the original much-loved fable by acclaimed children’s theatre company Stuff and Nonsense. The show
is a breath-taking combination of tricks, specially commissioned live music, song, charming puppetry, and unforgettable comedy.

‘Who will help me plant these grains of wheat?’ ‘Not I,’ said the Pig. ‘Not I,’ said the Rat. ‘Not I,’ said the Cow. ‘Fair enough,’ said the Little Red Hen, ‘I’ll do it myself!’ Making bread is hard work, but it would be a lot easier if the lazy farmyard animals got off their reclining sofas and lent a hand! Join our plucky little hen as she finds her own way to get stuff done.

Stuff and Nonsense are known for their clever, captivating storytelling, ingenious stagings and ability to make all ages laugh. One of the UK’s most well-loved companies, they are pioneers in creating shows with and for families. Director Niki McCretton leads the way in using child-centred collaboration to create shows that put children at the heart. Founded in 2001, Stuff and Nonsense has created eleven original productions based on well-known tales. The company has delivered around 2300 performances to over 325,000 people.

The original ‘Little Red Hen’ was an American fable dating back to 1874. The story was designed to teach children the importance of hard work and personal initiative. Stuff and Nonsense have updated the story with plenty of 21st century references which get lots of laughs and enables the whole family to enjoy the show. It shows children how we get food – how bread is made, and the effort involved, with other relevant themes – popular with parents who love a message.

The show is suitable for all the family and children aged 3 years and up. It will be on at the Curve Venue in Slough from 12 to the 16 December with morning and afternoon performances. Tickets cost between £8 and £10 (Family and Friends, 4 people, £32). Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01753 303035 or online at https://curvevenue.uk/

What audiences say:

We loved it, it made us smile and laugh.

Fantastic hour spent this afternoon with all three grandchildren, all children and other halves and Great Grandma watching ‘The Little Red Hen’… Great show for all ages!

‘The Little Red Hen’ was awesome!! (from Jake aged 7)

We had an amazing time watching ‘The Little Red Hen’ with 5 children between us. All of them, from 6 months to 5 years were enraptured, laughed in all the right places and joined in.

Can honestly say it was the best show I’ve taken my girls (6 & 3) to watch.

All of the children were completely enraptured for the whole 60 minutes. It was brilliantly acted and visually stunning.

Really funny, really clever. Lots of stuff for the adults as well as the children. Excellent.
