Making the Swytch: How This Leading E-Bike Conversion Company is Spearheading the E-Mobility Revolution

Since the pandemic, the use of e-bikes in UK has grown rapidly, with city streets buzzing with electrically-assisted activity. Research by Swytch Technology, the UK’s leading e-bike conversion company, found that where 27% of the nation is poised to make the switch to electric-powered modes of transport in the next few years, 28% of the population would prefer cycling as their primary mode of travel if it were made easier and faster. With the cost-of-living crisis, cycling has become more attractive than ever as a mode of transport, especially with electrical assistance making it accessible to more people than conventional bikes. But with the cost of an e-bike being easily over £1000, a Swytch kit offers the e-bike experience to anyone with a conventional bike at a much lower price. Oliver Montague, co-founder and CEO of Swytch Technology, is available to discuss how Swytch are market leaders, and how they are helping spearhead the e-bike revolution.

Since its formation in 2017, Swytch has grown rapidly, with a customer base of over 75,000 users and they look to reach 100,000 customers by the end of 2024. Testament to its success, the company is also growing internationally. Swytch credits more than 60% of its sales to customers outside of the UK, with 30,000 customers in North America, 12,000 in Europe, and 3,000 in the rest of the world. The majority of Swytch’s customer base have purchased the kit through Swytch’s pre-order model, paying a deposit to secure their order, and then each kit then made to order, specific to an individual’s bike, a process that completes within three months of initial purchase.

However, the growth of Swytch has not all been smooth riding, with external factors effecting delivery times for their kits. However, with significant new funding secured in 2023 these issues have been halted. This funding also shows further trust in the brand, especially as much of the cycling industry has struggled in the last year, with industry giants such as VanMoof and Wiggle going into administration. Compared to much of the industry, Swytch Technology has continued to grow in 2023, and looks forward to greater success in 2024.

Oliver Montague, CEO and co-founder of Swytch Technology says:

“This is an exciting time for Swytch. Consumers are looking for more affordable and sustainable transport options, and the Swytch Kit is the ideal solution for those who already have a bike, but want the benefit of electric power to increase their range and the convenience of cycling.

“The main barrier to our growth in recent years has been our inability to fulfil the incredible demand for our product, with a quick delivery time. This new funding solves that and will allow us to offer near-instant delivery to customers in 2024, and to grow significantly our existing network of retailers.”
