Mecca Bingo halls are welcoming back customers once again
Following England coming out of lockdown 2.0, Mecca Bingo halls are welcoming back customers once again. From 2 December, 28 Mecca clubs in England have reopened in line with the latest Government guidelines, alongside those clubs in Scotland which are also open.
New figures reveal 91 per cent of Mecca customers felt that in terms of feeling safe, Mecca had equalled or exceeded expectations as they returned to their dabbers after the first lockdown.
The research, shared today, was conducted following the lifting of the first national lockdown, and has found that two in five Mecca customers were apprehensive about coming back to their favourite game, however over 80 per cent have said they are happy to return as a result of the extensive safety measures that the clubs have put in place.
Jonathon Swaine, Managing Director of Retail at Mecca Bingo, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to reopen some of our clubs in England once again and very much look forward to opening our doors to our remaining clubs in England, Scotland and Wales in what we hope is the near future. Our teams have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of our customers, who can again head to Mecca for great entertainment with the confidence that they are in safe hands.”
The new measures Mecca successfully implemented following the first lockdown and which continue to be rolled out nationwide include enhanced cleaning routines, social distancing and capacity caps. In addition to this and thanks to advanced technology, customers can choose to both pay and play using contactless devices but will still have the option to use cash if they prefer. Customers can also order food and drink using their mobile or the MAX screen at their bingo table.
Despite being closed throughout November, the clubs remained a key part of their communities thanks to the launch of Mecca’s Everyone Deserves a Christmas charity campaign, where colleagues have asked communities for hamper donations to help local families in need over the festive period.
To help spread a little festive cheer, each of the 76 Mecca Bingo clubs across the UK are supporting a local registered charity with a target to provide at least 50 hampers, valued at £50 each, which will be distributed to 4,000 local families through the charity.
The Everyone Deserves a Christmas campaign follows on from the extensive work that Mecca did throughout the lockdowns, where the teams volunteered to use their time to connect with customers and help those in need. Clubs across the country prepared and delivered over 50,000 meals to local communities, emergency workers, care homes and charities.
