Mecca Bingo reveals 30% of Brits spend bingo winnings on holidays in new research
With Plan B restrictions lifting this week and Brits flocking back to bingo halls across the country, Mecca Bingo has revealed what the nation does to increase their luck and what they would do with their winnings should they be fortunate enough to win. In addition to avoiding ladders and wearing special items of clothing, Brits also admit to saying mantras (14 percent), avoiding walking on three drains (11 percent) and keeping lucky talismans (10 percent) to increase their good fortunes daily.
Once in the bingo hall with lucky pants on and charms in hand, Brits have their sights set on what they would do with their winnings. The top five big-ticket items for Brits include booking the holiday of a lifetime (30 percent), buying a new car (25 percent), putting down a deposit on a new home (23 percent), paying off a current mortgage (17 percent) and purchasing a new kitchen (14 percent).
The research, commissioned to celebrate the launch of Mecca Bingo’s Price and Prize Promise which includes great value prices and guaranteed prizes, also revealed that those planning a trip abroad to celebrate would head to the USA (23 percent) or the Maldives (20 percent). One in ten kind-hearted Brits would spend a substantial bingo win on a charity donation and six percent would splurge on a housekeeper to keep their new pad tidy.
The findings also revealed who Brits would tell and how they would celebrate a win. With one in ten (11 percent) admitting they would not tell anyone if they won, four in ten Brits (42 percent) would tell their spouse or partner first and a further one in ten (11 percent) would tell their mums! Almost a quarter of the nation (21 percent) would acknowledge a bingo win with a trip to a local restaurant and a further 21 percent would head online to shop. 18 percent would pop open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate whilst one in ten (11 percent) would quit their jobs in excitement.
