Meet the founder of Oman’s first mental health clinic who provides counselling on a global scale
The founder of Oman’s first mental health clinic is providing counselling all over the globe.
Her Highness Princess Sayyida Basma Al Said owns Whispers of Serenity Clinic and has been seeing and treating patients with a wide array of disorders for over 20 years as a clinical psychologist.
Skilled in individual and group therapy, hypnosis, counselling and life coaching, sexology and dealing with victims of abuse, HH Princess Basma regularly participates in community and professional events to raise awareness on mental health and how to deal with patients.
Among many different projects, she has initiated the ‘Not Alone’ mental health awareness campaign, an ongoing effort to create societal awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing which is living proof of her dedication and ambition towards the betterment of society.
Honoured as one of the 50 Omani women who have played a significant role in the country’s development and for her achievements in the field of their work, HH Princess Basma has visited refugee camps in Australia, Lebanon and Jordan to provide counselling to women and children, giving talks on how to deal and cope with life positively.

Launched the ‘Inspire Me’ initiative aimed for young adults and college students to learn how to lead and create their own future and success. Each month featured a successful personality to share their success stories and give helpful tips to the youth to inspire them into leading brighter careers.
Launched a special ‘Women’s Retreat’ program which encouraged women to relax and concentrate on self-development and self-appreciation. A whole day of fun and light activities in addition to yoga, meditation and small discussion groups about various life issues such as stress management, developing self-esteem and learning how to work well in teams.
Started the first ‘Mental Health Movie Night’ event to help raise awareness on mental health disorders in a fun and creative way. Each month, a movie centring on a mental health issue was showed and a light discussion with the team of psychologists was shared with the moviegoers.
HH Princess Basma is also a member of The American Psychological Association.
