MILTON KEYNES HOMEBUILDER DONATES £4,000 TO PARISH COUNCIL TO TRANSFORM SCRUBLAND
Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated £4,000 to Fairfields Parish Council to help transform an unused scrubland into an area residents can enjoy and use.
The developer’s donation has helped Fairfields Parish Council and Milton Keynes Community Foundation completely refurbish the deserted space into an area with open green space for residents to enjoy.
Over 70 residents came out and helped plant 350 saplings and native whips to the area, allowing wildlife to grow and flourish in the area. The funding from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will also go towards the reseeding of an area to create a wildflower meadow with over 3,500 seeds being planted in spring.
The vice Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and the Mayor of Milton Keynes attended the project and each of them planted an oak tree. The project has also been accepted into the “Queens Green Canopy” scheme.
Jean Nicholas, Clerk at Fairfields Parish Council, said: “We were delighted to have been selected as recipients for the donation. The transformation of the scrubland has been excellent to see and will give residents from Fairfields green space to enjoy.
“We would like to say thank you once again for the generous donation and for Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ commitment to the community at Fairfields.”
Amer Alkhalil, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton, said: “We are so pleased to be able to support Fairfields Parish Council with the scrubland refurbishment project. It’s brilliant that the residents can now enjoy this new space.”
