Miss England Finals head to Birmingham this weekend
The stage is set for the Miss England Finals this weekend in Birmingham to find a new Beauty Queen to receive the title – Miss England and to represent the country at Miss World later in the year.
Amongst the line up will be a mechanic, a paramedic, 3 nurses and a doctor, a lorry driver, a chess champion, an Afghan refugee and a rocket scientist.
Many of the contestants are using the Miss England platform to promote charitable causes and research into medical conditions. Some have overcome their own medical setbacks and adversities.
India Fenwick from Northumberland has suffered with blindness in one eye. Jennifer Carless from East Yorkshire has Fowlers Syndrome and has to wear a catheter, Miss Lincolnshire-Paige Allen suffered a heart attack as a teenager, and Emily Harrison from the West Midlands lives with the trauma of CVS Syndrome.
Anita Saha is taking part as Miss Manchester. Determined to overcome the tragedy of losing both her parents, has studied extremely hard to graduate this year for a Masters Degree in Bio-Medicine
In the lead up to the Finals, contestants have been taking part in a number of rounds as part of the Contest. They have included, a sports round, talent show, hair styling, beach beauty and a bare faced round – which involved the girls appearing in a catwalk show with no makeup. The winner of this round was Melisa Raouf from London. Melisa is planning on also appearing in the Final with no makeup.
