Motoring misery…parking is a struggle for one-in-five drivers

  • One-in-five drivers admit they are not good at parking a car
  • More than half of Brits think other drivers are generally bad at parking
  • YourParkingSpace.co.uk survey reveals millions struggle behind the wheel

Millions of Brits find it hard to park a car according to a survey by online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk.

It found that one-in-five drivers admitted they were not good at parking, which would equate to more than 6.5 million motorists.

Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said: “It’s not unusual to see motorists struggle on a daily basis to park a car, including parallel parking or trying to squeeze into a tight space.

“The good news for them is that there are alternatives to on-street parking such as parking on a rented driveway which usually provides more space than a traditional parking spot.”

Meanwhile, Brits were also quick to blame the nation’s poor parking performance on their fellow road users with more thanhalf of respondents believing that UK motorists are generally bad at parking.

In fact, of those who responded, 54 per cent believed that other car owners could do better with their parking.

Harrison added: “Unsurprisingly, our survey shows that many more people consider other drivers to be bad at parking compared to those admitting they find it a struggle.

“Whatever the situation really is, there’s no need for parking to be a chore for anyone as there are plenty of options to help drivers.

“For instance, some motorists rely on modern technology in a car like park assist and various sensors to guide them into their parking space, while others prefer to pre-book an empty space to remove the stress of driving around looking for an available spot on the day.”
