Music Journalist Billy Sloan to Headline Bookface Sip & Swap Event in Glasgow

Bookface, the thriving online book group with a global presence, is thrilled to announce Billy Sloan as the special guest for its upcoming Sip & Swap event at August House in Glasgow on Sunday, November 26th, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

Renowned actor, avid reader, and devoted music fan Colin McCredie will take the stage as the host for the evening’s Q+A session, promising an engaging and insightful conversation with the esteemed guest author.

Attendees are invited to bring up to four books to participate in the lively book swap, showcasing literary treasures of any genre in good condition. With a vast selection of hundreds of books to choose from, even those without contributions are encouraged to join the swap, following a 45-minute Q+A session with Billy Sloan.

Billy Sloan, an influential figure in the music industry, boasts a remarkable career as a music journalist, author, and broadcaster. His illustrious journey includes roles at major publications such as the Daily Record and the Sunday Mail, along with a longstanding BBC Radio Scotland Saturday night show. Sloan’s extensive by-lines in publications like The Sunday Times, Daily Express, Sunday Post, and Glasgow Herald underscore his significant contributions to music journalism.

Starting in 1979 with a groundbreaking Radio Clyde show that propelled emerging artists into the spotlight, Sloan went on to become the Music Correspondent for STV, producing coverage for iconic events like T in the Park and Scotland Today. As a respected music biographer, his portfolio includes projects with legendary acts such as Simple Minds, Cliff Richard, Wet Wet Wet, Hue and Cry, and The Associates.

One Love, One Life, Sloan’s latest project, has garnered endorsements from music giants like Rod Stewart, Fran Healy, The Proclaimers, Simple Minds, Midge Ure, Paul Buchanan the Blue Nile, and even Bono, a testament to the personal relationships he has cultivated throughout his career.

Bookface, founded by avid reader and broadcaster Heather Suttie in 2020, has grown to include 3400 members spanning 48 countries. Monthly events in Glasgow attract book lovers from across the UK, offering a unique opportunity to engage with successful authors during Q+A sessions.

Billy Sloan joins an impressive roster of authors who have graced sold-out Bookface events in Glasgow, including Davinia Taylor, Alan Parks, Nikki May, Susannah Constantine, Sam Baker, Doug Allan, Guy Grieve, Helen Fitzgerald and Sophie Gravia.

Participants are encouraged to bring four books for the sustainable book swap, featuring an extensive collection of 400 titles. However, Bookface recognises the diverse preferences of its members, accommodating those who opt for Kindle or audio formats.
