Nessa’s bar launches Nessa Salon Of The Unruly, a weekly live celebration of modern British art and creativity

Soho’s Nessa continues to host weekly up-and-coming contemporary British artists in their cocktail bar, complemented by open-format live British music and mixology. Drawing inspiration from Nessa’s namesake Vanessa Bell’s Bloomsbury Group Thursday night meetings, Nessa Salon Of The Unruly is a celebration of the bohemian spirit of Soho, a gathering place since the early 1900s of London’s creative community.

From 8pm till late, visitors are invited to join Nessa’s creative gathering, centered around conversations with some of the most talented emerging British artists in London. Nessa has partnered with Fitzrovia’s Grove Gallery and Hope 93 Gallery to curate a diverse and forward thinking lineup, with the first two weeks set to be hosted by Kira Somerset – an abstract artist whose work is deeply influenced by her Barbadian heritage and the rich cultural traditions of the Taíno people, and Grace McNerney, whose paintings and photography delve into the spectacle and humour found in the ordinary and transitional moments in life. Following dates are set to include appearances from Zara Muse, whose art revolves around themes of nature, emotions, and human connection, and Adee Phelen, a renowned hairdresser turned artist, who is credited for crowning David Beckham with a mohican in his previous career.

Guests can expect the opportunity to enjoy conversing with each artist in an informal setting, who will each be hosting a q&a, before live DJs soundtrack the evening with open format British sound selections, matched specifically to each artist. Throughout the evening, sip on Nessa’s signature cocktails such as the Abstract 19 – a drinkable homage to Vanessa Bell’s ‘Abstract Painting’, and served in a handcrafted porcelain cup made by Nessa’s own hostess Jasmine. Or try the Boho Negroni (Ramsbury Gin, Nectarine, Mancino Ambrato, Luxardo Bianco and saffron) for the perfect evening aperitivo. Guests are invited to bring their personal creative projects with them on the night, be that sketching, photography, or other ways to participate in the live experience.

For late night dining, sample from Nessa’s Executive Chef Tom Cenci’s bar snacks menu including nostalgic Homemade BBQ crisps, Cheese and onion croquettes with grape mustard mayo, and Aged Beef Tartare on Charred Sourdough. The bar also serves the full Nessa restaurant menu, for those looking for a more relaxed setting to enjoy Cenci’s creative interpretations of British classics.
