New Study Reveals Michael Scott is the Second Most Iconic Sitcom Character
Self-proclaimed ‘World’s Best Boss’ Michael Scott has been revealed as the second most iconic sitcom character, ever!
The findings are the result of a new study by the team at Betway who set out to discover the most legendary sitcom characters of all time, with Michael Scott from The Office US claiming second place with an overall score of 65.5/90.
The ‘goofy’ boss scored highly for a number of categories throughout the study, which compared the most notable characters from a number of popular sitcoms, ranking them on various factors.
The study revealed that Michael Scott, portrayed by Steve Carell, is the third most Googled sitcom character with 167,000 monthly searches globally – that would definitely feed his ego!
Unsurprisingly, the regional manager appears to be the third most GIF-ed sitcom star, with his comedy gold moments amassing 975 GIPHY results.
Michael Scott is now not only the world’s best boss but also the third-most viewed character on TikTok with 2.7B views and the second-most hashtagged on Instagram, with 675.8K hashtags.
As Michael once said “Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy – both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me” and it’s safe to say he’s one of the most lovable characters in TV history.
Much to Michael’s despair, the character is pipped to the post by fellow sitcom icon Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, who claims first place overall in the study with a score of 69.4/90.
Friends star and king of sarcasm Chandler Bing places third with an overall score of 64.6/90.
