Nicola McLean defends Jack Grealish over criticism for drinking binge
WAG Nicola McLean has defended Man City ace Jack Grealish over criticism over his consumption of alcohol during celebrations after the team’s treble win.
She told GB News: “I find it so horrific that we’re saying that Jack has to be a role model. First and foremost, did he ever say wanted to be one? No, he didn’t. He’s lived his dream of being a professional footballer.
“He’s won the treble, it’s the best thing he could do in his club career. OK, if he goes on to win the World Cup with England, brilliant, let’s all celebrate it but he’s had a four-day holiday after working his socks off.
“He’s not been able to drink for the whole season. He’s at the peak of his fitness.”
In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, former I’m A Celeb star Nicola, added: “In my view, you are not going to go out on a four-day bender, because you are celebrating winning the treble and become an alcoholic. It is completely ludicrous to say that.
“I have a 17 year old boy that wants to be a professional footballer, he doesn’t drink, he goes to the gym every day.
“When I told him I was doing this, he said ‘you better not slag off Jack Grealish’, even though we’re not Man City supporters by any means. And I said no, I love him. He said, ‘good’.”
She added: “My son isn’t looking at that and going, ‘oh my god, I want to drink’. He doesn’t drink. I drink, he doesn’t drink.
“Kids know what they’re doing. Jack Grealish doesn’t drink every day. He’s had a celebration. Good for him.”
