Our Five Favourite Taskmaster Contestants Since The Show Began

Taskmaster is by far one of the best TV shows on television. Originally beginning life as an Edinburgh Fringe show, it has become a real juggernaut, with comedians and celebrities begging to be on it, rather than the show seeking to book people.

Moving to Channel 4 a couple of years ago, it’s now reaching a whole new audience with Taskmaster Greg Davies and his assistant, and show creator, little Alex Horne now cult figures.

Then, of course, there’s the guests. Taskmaster has welcomed over 60 different guests to the show down the years, and as you’d expect, some have very much done better than others. But sometimes it’s the worst that are the best too. If that makes sense?

Either way, so many celebrities have brought us joy through their completion of even the simplest of tasks. But who are our favourites?

Victoria Coren-Mitchell

If you would have backed anyone to be good at problem solving and thinking of the most logical way to complete tasks, it would be Victoria Coren-Mitchell. She’s a writer, a thinker, a presenter and an internationally famous poker player. Taskmaster was made for her.

Which is why she became a hit on the show. Because she was oh, so bad.

Yes, Coren-Mitchell was one of the funniest and most incredible guests ever to appear on Taskmaster thanks to her disastrous tasks and she’ll always go down as a legend of the show.

Maybe she would say the tasks just didn’t suit her. Maybe if she’d have been given a live casino task that involved playing blackjack, or figuring out something to do with slot machines she’d have done great. We’ll certainly never know because she sure won’t be returning for Champion of Champions.

Bob Mortimer

No matter what Bob Mortimer does on television, he thinks outside of the box. He’s one of the most loveable characters on our screens, from his interview on the likes of Desert Island Discs, to his partnership with Vic Reeves and more recently Paul Whitehouse.

However, his time on Taskmaster was truly excellent. Starring on series five, he finished in second place on the show and produced some of the most memorable tasks in history, including his creation of a quite incredible flickbook.

Mark Watson

We’d like to put both Mark Watson and Nish Kumar in this section thanks to the heart-warming task where they created The Diverse Stripes, a video in which they quite frankly could, and should have won a Brit Award.

However, Watson is getting the nod for his performance, which despite that piece of genius, was pretty bad. Of course, he’s friends and has worked with Horne and Tim Key regularly, so you’d have thought he would have got the hang of it by now.

Morgana Robinson

Robinson finished fourth in series 12 but was a real highlight during her time on the show. She was joined by Victoria Coren-Mitchell, Alan Davies, Desiree Burch and Guz Khan during the show and it was her whacky nature and approach to tasks that really won people over.

Her flirtatious nature with Alex, which made him very uncomfortable, really made the series and it has gone from strength-to-strength ever since on Channel 4 following those five celebrities.

Mike Wozniak

Mike Wozniak was the series before Morgana Robinson and his dedication to the cause was quite simply breathtaking. We’d find it mean not including him given the fact he even passed a hemorrhoid on the show!

Wozniak only managed to finish fourth in the show, despite being an all-time favourite, and we’d love to see him back on it once again, mohawk in tow.
