Partied Out – Brits lose a week of December to nights out
Dreams, the UK’s most recommended bed retailer, today pulls the covers off the nation’s festive frolics – revealing how the Christmas cheer will keep the average Brit out for more than A WEEK this month, as they set out to paint the town Rudolph red.
The survey of over 2,000 people, uncovering Britain’s sleeping behaviour over the holiday season, revealed the nation’s most sociable cities with Belfast topping the charts for number of nights out, followed by Oxford, Coventry, London then Birmingham.
It’s therefore no surprise that regular sleeping habits disappear up the chimney, with nearly two thirds of Brits (64%) enjoying better and longer snoozes during the holiday season, perhaps catching up on the zzzs lost out to nights out.
But a resulting nightmare looms for Brits, with the average Brit admitting they struggle to get back into their pre-festive sleeping pattern in the New Year (68%).
When it comes to Christmas Eve, it’s not just children who struggle to get a silent night, with almost 40% of the nation declaring that they don’t sleep well on the night before Christmas.
The average Brit is busy wrapping presents or preparing for the big day, with the festive menu on the mind, impacting their Christmas Eve shut eye.

On the other side, two in five Brits still admit to sleeping like a baby on Christmas Eve, often fuelled by a late night of festive cheer.
