Portico’s Sustainable, Community-Led Branch in Fulham Unveiled with a Successful Launch EventYou
Portico, (part of Leaders Romans Group) launched its new sustainable office in Fulham on 13 January, with an event for local clients, media, local businesses and Portico staff.
The event was fun and insightful, focusing on sustainability and supporting the local community through the Portico Places initiative. The local card gives the bearer unique offers and savings with local businesses that Portico has partnered with including Manaku Kitchen and TH2 Designs . Working within and supporting local communities is a crucial focus for each branch.
David Wilson, Group COO of Leaders Romans Group (LRG) said, “It was brilliant to welcome so many people to the event. LRG is committed to creating a sense of community across our nationwide high-street branches. Partnering with local businesses through our Portico places initiative ensures all of our homeowners and tenants are welcomed into their new community and feel at home”.
At the launch event, attendees discussed the sustainability detail behind the refurbishment and gained advice on making properties more eco-friendly and sustainable, whether as landlords, homeowners or tenants. They also discussed the longer-term sustainable pledge by LRG to roll out these green principles to branches across the UK, in the company’s commitment to being carbon neutral by 2030.
The event was attended by valued Portico Places partners Brinkleys Fulham, a local, family-owned restaurant, bar and wine shop that provided the event’s sustainably-sourced wines. Local caters Taverna Catering provided a selection of Italian food.
Giordano De Angelis from Taverna Catering said, “We are so glad Portico decided to support local businesses and asked us to cater for their eco launch event. We are a small business, so support like this, coupled with the Portico Places free initiative, really does mean a lot to us. We look forward to working with Portico for many years to come.”
The event saw the official unveiling of the branch’s new sustainable fit-out, fully powered by renewable green energy. Low-flow taps save up to 50% of water consumption, and low-VOC paints release less gas than traditional paints. All fixtures and fittings were chosen to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and all wood was sourced from locally produced FSC-certified wood. Office chairs are made from 100% recycled fabric in a closed-loop content production process, with 25% of the raw material derived from LRG’s recycled waste streams. The carpet in the new branch is made from 65% post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will repurpose and recycle the finished item when it reaches the end of life.
Ceiling tiles are manufactured in the UK using bio-soluble mineral wool, perlite, clay and starch. They are durable, 100% recyclable and rated A+. Solar film lines the high-street-facing windows to reflect heat out of the branch and lowers the need for electricity. Every element of the re-fit has been produced locally to Fulham or in the UK to reduce transport emissions and to support local businesses.
Hot on the heals of this launch, another estate agent office within Leaders Romans Group, Leaders in Aylesbury, is undertaking a sustainable upgrade and is opening later this month.
