Post wedding podcasting: Jamie Laing launches new podcast with former England rugby captain
Entrepreneur Jamie Laing and Former-England Rugby Union captain Chris Robshaw, who is running the TCS London Marathon, have today announced their new mini-series podcast, Daily Dose of Dopamine.
Wiggle created the podcast with suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), alongside Jamie and Chris to highlight the issue of PMB – where people who complete something they have been working towards for an extended period of time face a feeling of reduced self-worth.
Daily Dose of Dopamine is aimed at runners of this year’s TCS London Marathon who, in their ‘rest-week’ post-Marathon, may be considering their next challenge – but also anyone who has completed a challenge of this stature, physical or mental.
The eight part mini-series is available on Spotify and the Apple Store from Tuesday, with some of the highlights including: guidance on how to deal with Post Marathon Blues, Chris’ real-life experience on coping with the low after a sporting high, Chris and Jamie doing bicep curls together ahead of the latter’s upcoming Spain wedding and both of their unusual recovery methods involving nipple cream and red wine.
Jamie Laing, Entrepreneur and CALM Ambassador, said: “After some of my biggest achievements, whether it’s a business deal or charity rugby match, there have been times where I’ve not felt 100%. This podcast details how normal that is, and will help anyone who has just completed the incredible feat of running a marathon.”
Chris Robshaw, Former England Rugby Union Captain, said: “Depending on when you read this I will either be about to, or have run, a marathon on behalf of Kerslake Robshaw Foundation. I know that after the highs of playing in front of 80,000 at Twickenham, being on your own at home can bring you back down to earth. My advice is to keep good people near you and stay as busy as possible.”
Xx at Wiggle said: “We want to show people that whenever you want to exercise, we are always up for it. Training for anything, whether it’s a marathon, 5k or triathlon is a huge commitment and we are pleased to work with CALM on dealing with whatever comes with that.”
Andrew Brown, Head of Partnerships, CALM, said: “We know running or any other exercise is good for you. It can’t be denied. It’s good for your head and your body. It can give you some of the biggest highs and makes the lows more manageable. Daily Dose of Dopamine will aim to provide the running community with some handy tips on how to manage their recovery once they’ve crossed the finish line.”
