A new study has revealed that Prince William is the most talked-about Royal following The Queen’s 70th Platinum Jubilee weekend.
The research conducted by JeffBet analysed global Google Trends data for the past seven days to establish which members of the ‘fab four’ caused searches to explode the most, with the Duke of Cambridge taking the top spot.
Prince William
Prince William saw a 586% increase in worldwide searches over the weekend, meaning interest in Prince William was five times more than average.
The interest in Prince William peaked hours after he delivered his heart-warming yet impactful speech during the Party at the Palace. The Duke honoured his grandmother and her years of service during the joyous speech yet also made the time to encourage listeners to “take better care of the world” and emphasised the need to “protect and restore our planet”.
Prince Harry
Prince Harry was the second most talked-about of the ‘fab four’ during the weekend celebrations and saw a 140% increase in searches after he and his wife Meghan Markle attended the official celebrations across London. Although the couple decided not to attend Saturday’s Party at the Palace outside Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry still made sure to attend other official and significant celebrations for his grandmother.
Despite the Queen also remaining absent from the royal concert box, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to spend the day privately with their children alongside celebrating daughter Lilibet’s first birthday.
Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton is the third most talked-about royal after seeing a 133% increase in worldwide searches just hours after attending the fourth day ofj Jubilee celebrations.
The surge in interest peaked as the Duchess wore a berry-pink Alexander McQueen dress for Sunday’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant that she attended alongside Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle’s entrance to the Jubilee celebrations on the 2nd June sparked a surge in interest in the Duchess. The Trooping the Colour, saw the first glimpses of Meghan’s first appearance in the UK after two years.
Meghan Markle’s increase in searches reached a 96% increase, making the Duchess the least talked-about of the ‘fab four’ during the celebrations.
A spokesperson from JeffBet commented:
“The celebrations over the past Jubilee weekend saw worldwide explosions in interest of the younger generation of the royal family, proving just how impressionable they are, even during events honouring the Queen’s 70 years of service.
The royal family is immensely popular in the UK, but this past weekend’s celebrations have seen enormous amounts of excitement and engagement from all over the world where people want to celebrate such an honourable and unforgettable Queen.”
